Here are the Frequently Asked Questions for Supatone Designs.
Here we try to answer all of your questions in an easy to find
manner.

How do I sign up for my own
site? What do I need to do?
To sign up, please select a package on the Package
Info page that is relevant to your needs and click the
Get This button. From there you can fill in the details of
the site you want us to make. Once that is done, click the
next button to fill in your personal information with credit
card to order the site and we will email you once we receive
this.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the url address that a user will type to
get to your site. (This is done because it is easier to remember
than an IP address of the physical site). To choose a domain
name for your site go to a site like www.register.com
to find if one that you like is available.
Where do you get hosting for the
sites and how much do they cost?
Supatone Designs is an affiliate of Globat.com
and all of our websites are currently hosted by them. We recommend
this site to anyone interested in a personal site. They are
strictly a hosting site, which means that their prices do
not include actually making a website.
I have an idea for the site but I'm
not sure what technical details are needed.
No problem. Once you decide which plan you want, you can
give any details you think are relevant and we will email
you back with the information you need. Check below to see
what each technical term refers to.
What is a sample layout?
A sample layout is a graphical representation that our designer
makes, based upon the description you give us when ordering
the site. We will make three initial samples for you to choose
from and give input on which parts of each are preferred.
Once that is complete, then we will make the final layout
which will be developed into the actual website.
What is an FTP account?
Each site that is hosted under Globat.com comes with unlimited
FTP accounts. This account will allow a user (or any that
are given the password) to upload and download files to their
discretion. These files will be stored on the website's web
space. Supatone and Globat are not responsible for any
files uploaded by the end-user. To use an FTP account may
require Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, or an FTP program
such as WS-FTP.
What does web server space mean?
Web server space is similar to hard drive space, and refers
to the maximum amount of data allowed to be stored on each
site. This is measured in GB and more space is better than
less!
What is Flash animation? Do I need
software to use it?
Macromedia Flash is seen on many sites today, including the
opening page for this
site. If you saw it, then you already have the software to
use it, as it is bundled with the newest browsers today like
Internet 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox.
How does a shopping cart work? Will
I need one?
A shopping cart is a system for selling items by e-commerce.
It includes making a database of products for customers to
purchase online. It is only recommended if it is a commercial
website, and is more easily added once the site is up and
running.
What is a database for?
A database, most likely made by MySQL, will be for categorizing
any data used on the site. This can include things such as
products, audio or video files, customer information, etc.
What does PHP or ASP support include?
PHP and ASP are both protocols or computer languages which
extend the regular HTML used on all browsers. Support for
these means that you may ask for specific needs which these
cater to (ie. a MySQL database requires PHP or other language
to be seen on a website)
What does a "fully integrated
website" mean?
Fully integrated means that you are given control over most
of the site content through as easy process and administration
screen. This can be done by PHP code to make updating easier
for both parties. A site which is not fully integrated will
mean that you must update the content yourself, once the initial
site has been made.
I have different needs than the
three packages, how can I order them?
To order a customized website with other needs, go to the
order page and choose the one closest to the type that you
need and give all relevant information in the details section.
Prices can be altered and negotiated depending on the circumstances.
Why is initiation more expensive
than maintenance and what is the difference?
Initiation includes hosting and registration of the site,
creating three samples, plus the final one for development,
building the website with the content provided as well as
any additional features required. Maintenance refers to support
for the site when any problems arise, which will be dealt
with as soon as possible. Maintenance does not include uploading
or updating any content for the site - that is the responsibility
of the content provider, which in most cases will be you.
